Adequate food choices can contribute to withold health and vitality throughout the lifecycle. To help general population in healthy choices, producers are obliged to provide consumers with food information in a simple and understandable way. A nutrition declaration is one of the mandatory food information. Due to legislation it can be obtained by manufacturer´s food analysis, average values based on a calculation from the known or actual average values of ingredients used and/or a calculation from generally established and accepted data are options for nutrition declaration. To help food producers Guideline for calculating nutrient content for nutrition declaration was published providing a step-by-step explanations. The aim of this presentation is to introduce these guideline and its apllicability.
